HTL Innsbruck wins SWARCOs Young Mobility Ambassdors Program 2024/2025

SWARCOs YMAP 2024/2025 goes to HTL Innsbruck school class

The students of HTL Anichstraße in Innsbruck have won the ‘Young Mobility Ambassadors Award’ presented by the transport technology company SWARCO in Wattens.

SWARCO invited school classes across Austria, aged between 14 and 19, to develop ideas for a project on how to combat distractions in road traffic. A road safety quiz and teaching materials for teachers rounded off the programme. Twenty-eight projects were submitted by schools from seven federal states. The Innsbruck HTL impressed the expert jury with a video explanation of a traffic light-controlled pedestrian crossing with green and red light projections and an accompanying model from a 3D printer, securing first place. In addition to SWARCO experts, the jury also included representatives from the Austrian Road Safety Board and the Tyrolean State Police.

At the award ceremony at SWARCO TRAFFIC WORLD on 25 April, the students received their certificates as road safety ambassadors and a cheque for the prize money of 4,000 euros for their class fund. There was also a special afternoon programme with the American footballers of the SWARCO Raiders.

Second place and prize money of 3,000 euros went to HTL Waidhofen an der Ybbs for their idea of an Easy Insurance app. The third-best project, with prize money of 2,000 euros, came from HAK Bregenz for their video on how to lose your driving licence the fastest way possible.

The newly appointed Young Mobility Ambassadors have agreed to act as role models for their peers, promoting innovative ideas and measures for the safety of young people on the roads and raising awareness.
In the coming years, SWARCO will expand the flagship Young Mobility Ambassadors Programme in Austria and beyond as part of its corporate social responsibility and invite more young people to engage with road safety issues.
