SWARCO Tech Days: Together for Sustainable, Safe, and Smart Traffic Management
In a time when traffic safety, the Vision Zero initiative, sustainability, innovation, and IT security are high on the agenda, knowledge sharing and collaboration are more important than ever. At SWARCO, we work closely with our customers and partners to develop solutions that make Norwegian roads and cities safer, smarter, and more sustainable. Our Tech Days provide a unique opportunity to discuss industry challenges, share experiences, and explore innovative traffic management and infrastructure technologies.
Regional Tech Days:
A Platform for Collaboration and Development
We have previously visited Tromsø, Bodø, Bergen, Stavanger, and Trondheim, with our most recent event held in Oslo, bringing together stakeholders from national, regional, and municipal transport authorities. These gatherings serve as valuable meeting points for dialogue and knowledge sharing on new and innovative solutions for the future of traffic management.
Tech Day in Oslo: Future Requirements and Solutions
At our Tech Day in Oslo, held just before Christmas, IT security, innovation, sustainable traffic management, and the new requirements of the NIS2 directive were key topics. Representatives from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Oslo’s Agency for Urban Environment, and the county councils of Agder, Innlandet, Akershus, and Buskerud participated in discussions on how new technologies and regulations will shape the future of traffic solutions. Our Nordic experts from Sweden and Denmark presented concrete examples of how "Smart Green" solutions, including Smart AI, can enhance traffic safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Smart Green: Technology Driving the Future of Traffic Management
SWARCO’s Smart Green portfolio includes advanced solutions for more precise traffic management, optimizing traffic flow and reducing congestion. The result is shorter travel times, lower fuel consumption, and reduced emissions. With Smart AI and intelligent data systems, road authorities gain better insight into traffic conditions and can make real-time, data-driven decisions. This leads to further emissions reductions, improved traffic efficiency, and increased safety for both motorists and vulnerable road users.
The growing regulatory focus on IT security was also a key discussion point. As digitalization in traffic management advances, cybersecurity is becoming increasingly critical. More connected systems require security measures in line with the NIS2 directive. SWARCO continues to develop and deliver solutions that meet the highest security standards and comply with these new regulations.
The Road Ahead: More Tech Days and Stronger Collaboration
Participants from all regions we have visited have given highly positive feedback on our Tech Days. They find the events valuable and have expressed high satisfaction with both content and format. Evaluations confirm that attendees appreciate the opportunity to discuss relevant topics and solutions with our experts. These gatherings provide an essential platform for strengthening industry collaboration and ensuring that our solutions meet both current and future demands.
Technology is evolving rapidly, and combined with the positive feedback from participants, we see a clear need to continue these events. We are now planning new Tech Days, focusing on both urban and interurban solutions. The agenda will be tailored to each region, ensuring that discussions are optimized for the existing infrastructure and the specific opportunities available in each area.
