Celebrating Ongoing Success in Scotland with Trees for Life Sponsorship
SWARCO evolt has selected Scotland’s Trees for Life as a new corporate charity. Strengthening the company’s commitment to cleaner air and recognising its progressive work in making Scotland a greener environment.
Trees for Life is a conservation charity which helps to protect and expand Scotland's wild and ancient Caledonian Forest - a unique habitat and home to rare wildlife and extensive biodiversity which is of global importance.
To date, Trees for Life has planted two million trees and, in addition to the sponsorship, SWARCO will also make a donation to pay for five new trees for every new rapid charge point that it installs over the next 12 months.
SWARCO eVolt has been installing charge points since 2010 and is on a mission to support the reduction of transport-related emissions in the UK. Justin Meyer, General Manager of SWARCO eVolt, says he is committed to helping improve air quality in the country:
“By providing an innovative and reliable charging infrastructure that facilitates the transition to ultra-low emission vehicles, we are playing an important part in protecting the environment for future generations,” he says.
“Our work has synergies with the work that Trees for Life and its volunteers are doing to rewild important areas of forest land in Scotland, and we look forward to making a positive contribution to their efforts. It is a contribution which will be directly linked to the growth of EV charging infrastructure and the long-term reduction of fossil-fuelled cars on Scottish roads.”
This is the first in a number of sponsorship opportunities that SWARCO is currently considering and it hopes to find more green initiatives so that it can support other important schemes across the UK.
To date EV drivers in Scotland have access to more than 1,800 SWARCO eVolt charging stations including 366 rapids, and the business works with almost every council in Scotland. Justin praises the Scottish government for leading the rest of the UK: “Outside of London, Scotland provides more charge points per plug-in vehicle than the rest of the UK, and the Scottish government’s continued commitment to support both the public and private sectors has resulted in funding schemes that are having a real impact on EV uptake.
“Councils across Scotland,” Justin continues, “are doing their utmost to take advantage of all the support available to them and we are proud to be involved in so many projects.” SWARCO eVolt has made a sizable investment in its own EV fleet with all employees in Scotland driving an electric vehicle, a move which helped the business achieve Go-Ultra Low company status in 2017.
