Parking Guidance Software
The key to holistic traffic and parking management
Configuration, monitoring & controlling of all components
The parking control centre is the key component of a traffic and parking guidance system. It comprises the parking guidance computer and the parking guidance system software installed on it. The parking control centre monitors the system components, collects the data of the connected parking facilities as well as the linked external systems, controls the displays in the parking guidance system according to the current traffic and parking situation and provides the data basis for mobile applications.
Data from external systems is imported into the traffic and parking guidance system control centre via multiple interfaces. This triggers city specific traffic and event-based scenarios on basis of a maximum possible data set. All recorded data, incidents, transmitted data and manual inputs are archived and can be evaluated for statistical purposes.
The parking control centre can either be operated as a service (public cloud solution, hosted and operated by SWARCO or private cloud solution, hosted and operated by you as the customer) or as an on-premises installation with a local server at the city.
System functionalities
The control software of the parking control centre works fully automatically and operator-free in normal operation mode. However, the operators can manually intervene via the PGS Web-GUI graphical user interface and thus, for example, react to unusual situations, define incidents, re-parameterize the system or change the algorithm.
Operators can access the parking guidance system via the standard web browser of their workstation computer. Authorization is done by entering the user name and password. User rights for access to the parking guidance system can be assigned individually for users and user groups. No special client software is required.
All system components are displayed graphically on the user interface. Each system component has its own context menu and can be configured via this menu. This allows you to configure the remaining parking space displays and RGB full matrix LED displays of the parking guidance system and define incidents (switching conditions such as time range, occupancy or measured values) that activate predefined scenarios and thus display contents when they occur.
Also supported is the configuration and visualization of urban scenarios in mobile applications on smartphones, such as in the PARCO parking app or in vehicle navigation systems.

Technical details
The heart of the parking guidance system software is formed by the background processes for communication and control. The parking guidance system software works on a PostgeSQL database on the Windows operating system. The graphical user interface PLS Web-GUI also runs on Windows and is provided as a RAP application in an Apache Tomcat web server. It works with the same database and thus with the same, always up-to-date data as the background processes.
The data transfer and communication to third parties takes place via HTTPS, standardized and / or proprietary communication protocols TLS, NTCIP, FTP, OCIT-C and VDV, among others. In addition to the parking facilities, the system communicates with the connected residual space displays as well as RGB full matrix LED displays. In addition, various control centres can be connected to the system via interfaces, e.g. traffic computers, adaptive traffic control systems, traffic control systems, environment measuring stations, public transport operations control systems, etc. Communication and information transfer to third parties is possible via further interfaces.
It is possible to access the parking guidance computer (and thus the entire parking guidance system) via remote access for maintenance and troubleshooting purposes. Access to the parking guidance system via PLS Web-GUI is protected with a user name and password.
