What you will do
We have a vacancy for a Production Team Leader to join our team at our Melsonby, North Yorkshire (Electrical Production) site. The role will be to lead, develop and execute all production planning activities within a global electro/mechanical manufacturing and assembly environment. Aligning and ensuring robust production schedules, optimal material availability, and efficient use of resources to meet customer demand.
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, maintain, and optimize detailed production schedules to meet customer orders, service levels, and inventory targets.
- Create and manage MPS/MRP plans using SAP S/4HANA related transactions.
- Analyze capacity constraints, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions to maintain stable production flow.
- Lead daily/weekly scheduling meetings, providing clear priorities and communicating schedule changes to all stakeholders.
Material & Inventory Management
- Ensure material availability to support production through effective planning of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Work closely with Procurement to manage supplier lead times, shortages, and unexpected disruptions.
- Monitor inventory levels and drive actions to reduce excess stock without compromising production continuity.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Analyse performance data (OTIF, schedule adherence, capacity utilization) and recommend improvements.
- Drive standardisation of planning processes and help implement lean manufacturing principles.
- Participate in cross‑functional improvement projects including NPI introductions, process changes, and ERP enhancements.
Profile
What we are looking for
- Significant experience in a manufacturing production planning or scheduling role, preferably electronics, engineering, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Proven skills in developing and implementing production planning systems.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA (especially Production Planning and MRP transactions).
- Excellent understanding of planning concepts: MRP, MPS, capacity planning, inventory control, and lean principles.
- High proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis tools.
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
