Controller Production Assembler

We’re looking for a Controller Production Assembler to join our manufacturing team in Melsonby, working on the assembly, wiring and testing of a range of specialist SWARCO products, including traffic signal controllers, roadside controller cabinets, variable message signs and associated equipment.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with an electrical, mechanical or manufacturing background who enjoys practical work, takes pride in quality and has good attention to detail.

What you will do

You’ll be responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, testing and preparation of SWARCO products.

Working from technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), specifications and kit lists, you’ll help turn individual components into finished products ready for use by our customers.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Assembling and wiring traffic signal controller and roadside controller cabinets

  • Preparing cables, connectors and wiring looms

  • Carrying out cabinet wiring and fitting electrical components such as transformers

  • Assembling mechanical components, enclosures, prisms and trailers

  • Reading and following technical drawings, specifications, BOMs and kit lists

  • Carrying out basic functional testing of completed products

  • Using hand and power tools safely and effectively

  • Supporting PCB assembly/repair and basic mechanical assembly activities

  • Preparing and fitting sign faces and assembling MDU units

  • Ensuring completed work meets SWARCO’s quality and production standards

  • Identifying and reporting quality issues or non-conformances

  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with 5S principles

  • Supporting continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives across the manufacturing operation

You may also be required to work across different manufacturing cells depending on production requirements and support general factory improvement activities where needed.chanicalEngineering #ITS #SWARCO #LI-EW1

 

Profile

What we are looking for

We’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable and technically minded, with the ability to follow detailed instructions and take pride in producing high-quality work.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in an electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical or manufacturing environment

  • Relevant electrical, mechanical or manufacturing training or qualifications

  • The ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, BOMs or similar documentation

  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work

  • An understanding of quality control and safe working practices

  • Experience using hand and power tools

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn new skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working with traffic signal controllers or similar specialist equipment

  • Experience with variable message signs or roadside technology

  • Previous experience carrying out product testing

  • Experience of PCB assembly or repair

  • Experience working within a 5S or continuous improvement environment
